The Multi-lingual Bookbinding/Conservation
Dictionary Project: The goal of this project is to combine, in one
place, all the known bookbinding and book conservation terminology,
in as many languages as possible.

The Book: an interactive description
Use mouse to point to the area you would like to have identified. The binding style being described here is a German case binding also known as a Bradel binding, though there are differences. Instructions for making this style of cover (this is where the distinction is) can be found at here.
