Fine & Design Binding:

There are many occasions for which you'd like to have a special book from your collection or for use as a presentation binding rebound. Perhaps the covers are damaged and a conservation treatment is not what you want, or the book is unbound.  

In those situations, we can create a binding unique to that book, either based on illustrations or ideas from the text, or your ideas. If the book will be used as a presentation binding to thank a major donor, or for a corporate gift we can work with your logo/seal artwork to include that in the final design, either stamping in gold or representing it using onlay techniques.

Techniques

• Sewing on raised or flattened cords
• Concertina / Accordion
• Exposed spine or sewings
• Full or quarter leather, vellum, or cloth and sides of a contrasting traditional or non-traditional material, or with onlays.
• Tooling in gold, blind, or colored foils.
• Underpainted vellum.
• Relief work
