COVERING GROUND, a Chronicle of Donna Thomas’ 2002 hike of the
218 mile John Muir Trail, edited and illustrated by Donna Thomas, 2003
from her two miniature books on the landscape and wildflowers of the John
Muir Trail.
Text reproduced by means of metal engravings of Donna’s handwriting
on Peter Thomas’ handmade paper, laser printed color illustrations
and tipped onto the text paper. Coptic bound in clear heart redwood salvaged,
cut and finished with help from Donna’s brother John and Tony Graziano.

Text letterpress on Peter Thomas’ handmade paper, on round pages,
bound as an accordion between two galvanized iron covers (recalling the
tin and iron canneries in the text). Book is canned by Dave’s Albacore
of Santa Cruz using canning equipment salvaged from Cannery Row, Monterey,
California. Can must be opened to see the book. For Sale $95.
